President Trump shocked the country with his decision to fire FBI Director James Comey Tuesday. Comey led the investigation around Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
The President kept his answer short and sweet when asked about his decision regarding Comey.
“He was not doing a good job, very simply,” Trump said.
Before seeing the media in the Oval Office, Trump met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak. He denied that Comey’s firing interfered with his meeting with the Russians.
President Trump continued his reasoning for letting go of Comey on Twitter early Wednesday morning.
Vice President Mike Pence supported the President’s decision to let go of Comey in front of the press at Capitol Hill on Wednesday morning.
“President Trump provided strong and decisive leadership,” Pence said. “I’m grateful for the action the President has taken. I’m confident as we go forward that the President will choose an individual who will be able to restore the confidence of our nation in our leading law enforcement agency.”
The President is confident that the next director will do a more suitable job.
